There are 1,060 species of birds found in Thailand, over 400 can be found in Phetchaburi Province, making it known as Thailand's Bird City. It’s simply because Phetchaburi has a variety of habitats for birds, including mixed deciduous forests, mudflats, and sandy beaches, all excellent habitats for both residential and migratory birds.

Phetchaburi also has the largest salt farm in Thailand. Amidst vast salt farms and enormous mudflats extending along the coastlines of the upper Gulf of Thailand situated a small village called Pak Thale. This area is a happy home to many migratory birds escaping the cold from the North Pole, Russia, and China, flying to live in this area for feeding and recuperating from November to May every year.

As Pak Tale is a protected area, many rare birds are often found here such as spoon-billed sandpipers, the spotted Greenshanks, the great Knots, and the black-faced spoonbills. In addition, there are also local birds such as the Malaysian plovers, Eurasian curlews, the great egrets, and the black-crowned night herons. There also are various types of mangrove birds, such as the Golden-bellied gerygone, Malayan swamp babblers, and the Mangrove Whistler reside here.

Pak Thale really is a paradise for birders. Birders from all over the world come to Pak Tale to see shore birds because it’s easier to spot them there. Bird watching can be done all year round, with new species waiting to be discovered. The best time to see migratory birds starts from September to April. Our tour in Pak Tale is led by skilled and experienced bird guides who grew up here and know every nook and corner.
